Unlike the European and Pacific theaters, the China, Burma, and India Theater received less resources and man-power, which caused this to become the “Forgotten Theater of World War II”. On March 3rd, 1942 the Allies established the China, Burma, and India Theater. In order to build up the Nationalist Army and convince them to go on the offence to Burma, supplies had to be flown over the “Hump”, a road had to be built from Burma to China and a military offensive had to be developed, consisting of British, Sepoy, Nationalist Chinese, and American forces, all of which was on the far end of the military supply chain. With this threat, the United States military commanders determined that it was necessary to assist the Chinese and take actions to bolster the Chinese military effort. At the same time, Japanese forces had made considerable gain against Nationalist Chinese forces in Southwest China, posing the possibility of the loss of China. The British army fought the Japanese from India, but were in need of assistance.

However, the Japanese Imperial forces also invaded Southeast Asia through French IndoChina to Malaya, Burma, and India. During World War II, the Allies’ major and most publicized efforts were in the European and Pacific theaters.
